One Tap from Phone to Camera: Import Creative Look Recipes over USB

Your Recipes Are on Your Phone. Your Camera Finally Knows.

Inside AlphaLuma live hundreds of Creative Look recipes — the community's, your saved favorites, the ones you tuned yourself. And until now, every one of them stopped at the screen: using a recipe meant propping the phone next to your camera and copying a dozen parameters into the menu, one by one.

That step is gone. AlphaLuma is the first app that can import a recipe straight from your phone into a Sony camera. No transcribing, no second-guessing whether you set Fade to 2 or 3.

The Whole Flow Is Three Steps

• Set your camera's USB Connection Mode to Remote Shooting — some bodies call it PC Remote.
• Connect the camera to your iPhone with a data cable.
• Open any recipe and tap Send Recipe to Camera.

A few seconds later the recipe is in the camera. A second body? Plug it in and tap again. Trying a different look for the weekend? Same three steps.

Choose Where the Recipe Lands

• Save to a Custom Look slot. The recipe is imported into the camera itself — Custom 1 through 6 — and stays there after you unplug, switchable any time from the camera's own menu.
• Apply to current settings. For when you want to shoot with it right now.

While connected, the app shows your camera's model name, battery level, and how many Custom Look slots it actually has — all read live from the body, nothing assumed.

Fast, but Never Careless

One-tap import doesn't mean blind import:

• Before anything is written, the app lists every setting it is about to change — nothing is sent until you confirm.
• An active Picture Profile locks Creative Look out; the app notices and switches it off for you first.
• If a value in a recipe sits outside what your body accepts, it is written at the nearest valid step and you are told.
• If the cable gets pulled mid-import, what was already written stays on the camera and the rest is untouched. Importing again is safe.

Which Cameras Can Receive Recipes

Any Sony body with Creative Look in its menu. We have verified the α7 V, α7 IV, α7C II, α7CR, α7R V and ZV-E1. Older bodies built around the previous Creative Style can't map the parameters one to one, so they can't receive recipes — and if your camera isn't supported, the app tells you after reading it, and writes nothing.

Before Your First Import

• Use a data cable — charge-only cables are the number-one reason nothing shows up.
• iPhone 15 and later connect USB-C to USB-C; iPhone 14 and earlier need Apple's Lightning to USB Camera Adapter.
• Keep a memory card in the camera, and quit Creators' App or Imaging Edge first — they occupy the remote channel.
